Children And Youth Groups
At St Oswalds there are a variety of groups and activities to cater for children and young people of all ages. Take a look below to get a flavour of what is on offer. If you are new to the church and wish to find out more about the youth activities we run for your child or children then please visit our Contact Us page.
Every Sunday morning, during the 10:00 service, children can attend our Sunday School, where they will undertake a number of crafts, games and other activities based around bible stories. The children join the main service near the end and get to tell the congregation what they have been doing that day and to show their creations to everyone.
Sunday school doesn't run on the first Sunday of the month, as this is a family service, which the children attend.
Every Christmas Eve the children also have the chance to be in the nativity play in the church, which attracts many families and is a great start to the Christmas holiday.
Children below Sunday school age can be looked after in the crèche, whilst their parents attend the service. All carers are DBS checked and verified. Children are collected by the parents just before communion and are in church for the end of the service.
Junior Youth Club
Our Junior Youth Club caters for children aged between 7 and 12 years old.
We meet on two Sundays per month from 5:30-7:00pm and provide a range of activities from arts and crafts to cookery, sports and quizzes. We've even been searching for bats and taken a barge down the Grand Union canal! If you would like to know more or are interested in coming please do Contact Us for more information.
We have a full range of activities planned during term time and welcome all comers in a friendly environment.
Senior Youth Club is currently not meeting separately
At various times throughout the year we also run fundraising activities and embark on other community based activities.
If you'd like more information please do Contact Us.
Our Companions discussion group is for the youth of our church with members of secondary school age.
We meet every Sunday at 11:45am for around an hour. What makes our group unique is that no meeting has ever been the same; Discussions range from politics, ethics, and even family squabbles debating who was 'right'. The aim of our meetings is to encourage young people to grow through questioning the world around us, what is going on in society and how this relates to the Christian faith and our every day lives.
If you would like any information then please do Contact Us, or just turn up at the church at 11:45am on any Sunday, we'd love to see you!
Holland House Retreat
Twice a year the Companions retreat to a beautiful house in the Worcestershire countryside, Holland House, Cropthorne. Here we have a quiet space to reflect on the bigger things in life, enjoy the surroundings, eat delicious food and receive warm hospitality.
For over 40 years we have been visiting Holland House and having weekends of discussions as well as trips swimming, walks and a range of activities in the amazing grounds. Holland House has provided many fantastic weekends and is a very special place to many Companions who have been back 20, 30 or even more times over the years! It's impossible to really understand what a Cropthorne weekend is really like until you've been on one but, once you've been once, you'll almost certainly want to go again!
